So on one extremely rare occasion that I breezed through traffic after work, I ended up with an extra 30 minutes before I would normally pick up my DD from creche and race back home to relieve the nanny. So whats a girl to do but shop, of course!..Sadly, it was just of the grocery store variety. But on my way in I noticed a new little store called Nibbly Bits, out in Parklands/Sunningdale area along the West Coast…or it could be not-so-new, as I hardly get to truly explore like I used to. None the less, it was new to me, and it’s rows and rows of cookies, essentially grabbed me by the lapels and pulled me in! To my delight, that was not all it had in store for me!
As you might have picked up by now, Im a sucker for cookies, and they had loads! But more on that later. Because ever since my beasty number two started solids, Ive been on the look out for bargains on fruit, especifically dried fruit.
Simply because dried fruit makes for an excellent flavour booster to a meal and (cooking tip alert!)makes meat more easily digestible for baby!! So with peach halves or apricots at only R27 for 250g, I was pleased as punch, especially considering the great quality of the goods.
They had a full array of dried fruits and tasty goods to choose from and am definitely going back for more.
Now about those cookies. I go absolutely weak in the knees when it comes to baked goods, particularly so with cookies. Chochip cookies? You complete me. But as I reached for a pack that loudly called my name, I heard a loud pssst from the whitechocolate chip cookies…Hello!! Now, Im not normally a white chocolate fan, but there was something about these lil babies that I had to try. And boy am I so glad I did!!!
They could have very well have knocked Chips Ahoy off my very high pedestal I had for them…Well, maybe. Im not sure. I think I may need another pack . Just to be sure. The other one flew way too fast 😉
They also offer a little bit more than just sweet treats, cookies, cupcakes, chocolate biscottis(R15) and dried fruit. They also do well presented cookie tins and gift snack boxes, as well other savoury treats like rusks, cheese palmiers, corncakes and breadsticks to name but two of the many.
You have to understand though, this an awesome little factory outlet and these prices are insanely good. Like 50% less than what you find in some very well known retailers. So they sell goods that have been rejected purely because a) they didn’t meet specific factory quality standards (overbaked or broken or crushed), or b) there may have been a product overrun (as in too many were made for a particular order). These goods are then repackaged and sent to the Nibbly Stores for your shopping pleasure. And take it from me, they are still of great quality with very well marked packages distinguishing goods that were either rejected (yellow sticker) or are in perfect condition(green sticker). Nibbly Bits is also pretty honest about their expiration dates (which are clearly marked), so no trickery involved. Nibbly Bits also sell products under their grey label, which have nothing wrong with them at all.
I know I will be shopping up a storm there for baby’s upcoming baptism, for sure!

They also have a nice little basic coffee bar: The only thing better than a rusk, is a free rusk! Now who doesnt enjoy a pasella?
