Star date: Umm, about 2 million light years into this pregnancy…I mean, it’s got to be that long already right? Surely feels like it some days. Naah, I kid, I kid…Well, a little. Apologies for the lengthy pause in blog life here on The Milk Memoirs, but I’ve mostly just a moaning Mertle recently, and that schpiel gets old real quick. So instead of subjecting you to all that for the past three weeks, I decided I’d give you a break, and will instead you hit with an onslaught of my complaints today! 🙂 Naah, I kid, I kid…Although, I can’t promise anything 😉
But seriously…I am now well into my second trimester (YAY), however, the promised land of renewed energy and headache free days are frustratingly still not quite in my sights yet. (not so yay) But through silver lining goggles, as previously stated, my brain functioning dial has definitely been turned up a few notches. Still crazy tired and pretty rubbish in social settings or anything that really requires wit or general human interaction after 5pm, but getting there!
Also, I’m now less desperate about my food. I no longer am mowing through everything I see or smell. And no longer have to urgently smash my face with food the moment I open my eyes in the mornings, and can finally also cut out the extra breakfast in the car on my way to work. I still feel weird and dizzy and down right awful if I miss a meal by even 15 minutes, so it’s safe to say my life is still revolving around food right now. And probably for the next few weeks as well. So, I still need to have breakfast before I leave for work, and then again by at least 9am. Thereafter, it’s every 1.5 to 2 hours, and to avoid dizzy spells during meetings, I make sure I carry a bag of snacks or a protein bar and water with me all the time.
(I just re-read that paragraph now, and realized I made myself sound as if I’ve not turned into some sort of ravenous beast, who instead makes healthy meal choices. For the record, I am not. Im a total ravenous beast who in theory would love to be healthy, but in the practical playout, I mostly do not. Need to work on this
In other news, my pelvis is twisted again. Totally pretzeled up. No biggy, I get it every pregnancy- that train is never late. Meaning I’ve already got my waddle on. A pretty painful waddle. I’ve been waddling and managing my waddle since week 4 already. Pretty late compared to my two previous pregnancies. (I waddled all the way through Paris and Italy when I was only a week pregnant with Morgan-Lee)
But as I’ve learnt, thanks to my old sports injuries, preggy hormones and my own abnormally high laxicity levels (diagnosed last year), this has become something that I’ve learnt to live with. And by “live with”, don’t for one second think I mean that I’m all stoic and graceful about it. Wish I was, but there’s one place that Im not my mother’s child: I bitch and moan to my loved ones all the time. Poor souls.
Preggo life, people…and I sure look the part! I mean, my belly is popping like it’s hot! Relatively speaking, it’s quite large for this stage for me. Although, at 14 weeks, I know Im looking like I just had too big a lunch. And I can see the confusion on people’s faces when spotting my belly and trying to nonchalantly scope it out. I confuse the crap out of them, when I answer them with, “no, just a big lunch… A gatsby will do that!” Or as my bud once answered for me, “oh no, she’s just fat”. The reactions are amusing at times. But I’m not complaining, I love my growing belly! I’m just curious as to how big I’ll be in the end.
Either way, I’m absolutely enjoying the journey, and the honour of being made part of this miracle. We’re excited, and whilst I still have so much to still get into place, Im enjoying every step of it…every awkward waddle along the way!
Now, if only the peeing could just give me a break ; )
If you’re interested, but missed my last pregnancy update of the early weeks, check it out over here.
Oh, by the way, I am 16 weeks already, and just trying to play catch up here on this blog. Hopefully soon I’ll be blogging real time again with these updates.
But you look stunning! So eat away, mommy!
Hahaha Luchae, if only ones beauty was relative to the amount food one gobbled!! #paradise!
But thank you dear! Xxx
Oh you look simply beautiful! All the best
Ah, thanks catjuggles – you’re very kind! Xxx
I’m 15 weeks tomorrow and I feel you. Tired, grumpy, hungry and tired some more lol. My belly also feels huge already! Thank you for sharing, we are not alone!
Preggos Unite!!!! Congrats, Abi!
And yes, these preggy hormones can really do a number on you, right? But all good signs of things working wonderfully!
You are really glowing 🙂 Any inkling as to baby’s sex yet?
Glowing..or sweating?? 😉
Thanks hun!
Not yet…still toying with the idea of finding out. But mostly right now, given limited energies and how busy I currently am at work (its nuts) I havent had much time to really think on it. Last scan was in Jan and am only seeing doc in, I think April or end March. But im in no rush. 🙂
Oh the peeing! I feel you on that one. That and the eating. I am currently competing with myself to see how much I can eat in one day! Sheesh! It’s crazy but if I don’t eat, then the morning sickness (or evening sickness) hits with a vengeance.
But you look amazing!!! Love reading your updates and following your pregnancy.
How are your girls coping with the pregnancy? Any movement felt yet?
