If youre wondering what the hell am I doing still trying to get a Vday blog post out when I have a fresh-ish newborn on my arm, and should instead be grabbing some much needed sleep. The answer is, I also don’t know really. Cause I seriously need my sleep.
But maybe it’s the fact that I didn’t get a chance to truly celebrate this past Christmas whole heartedly with my kids as I would have liked thanks to some serious mental & physical exhaustion thanks to pregnancy. Or maybe I’m just looking for a distraction from the more monotonous side of newborn life. Or maybe Im really wanting to give my big girls a sense of normalcy & attention. That their mama is still here, still has a focus on them, and their lives, and still enjoys creating with them.
Whatever the case may be, it’s happening. However, the fact of the matter still is that there’s a little human dependant on me for survival, so I don’t have the luxury of time to go out to stores & throw a wondering eye out for fun items, nor do I have time to make & bake things that need a lot of my time & focus. So I’ve come up with a few ideas for OUR KIDS, for THEIR CLASS & for THEIR TEACHERS. So I’m sharing it here with you in case you also need quick& easy ideas that won’t cost the earth.

Our Kids Valenttines
Aside from the little valentine themed affirmation cards I’ve bee suprising my girls with everyday for days leading up to V’day, (which I will share more about soon) I thought Id get them something small too. Now we don’t usually buy them anything for Vday – we’re pretty frugal – but this year I felt like showering them with something small & sweet – just to make their day.
So, I got three small brown paper bags from Crazy Store for about R30 for 6. (Yes only three kids are getting, cause my other little Romeo (Remy-James) will be getting enough chocolates through my breastmilk) 😉
And I filled it up:
Candy necklace
Heart shaped lollies and
Mermaid/dolphin Backpack keychains
A whopping total of about R50 for all that.
For class valentines I gave the girls three ideas & let them choose which one their buddies would love the most:
1. Pop rocks:
Super simple! I bought a bunch of pop rocks sherbet from Crazy Store, and slapped on this label I made.
2. Donuts
I bought a bunch of tiny donuts (that’s supposed to be the hole of the ring donuts, butthey didnt have any in stock) from Woolies, then popped them into these baggies (using tongs). I got the baggies from Mambo’s for R6 for pack of 25, with this little label i made quickly.
3. Slime
Im surprised that both of them didn’t go for this one, as they’re both still going strong with their slime love – 4 years now & they still dig it! But all I did was make a large batch of my regular slime, popped smaller portions into these tubs, & slapped this label on.
Toddler Valentines(Sugar free)
So I won’t skip out on sugar free option here for those who are looking. This one is nutritional in fact!
I simply printed out this label and slapped it onto a Squish. As seen here:
But you can use this same label for on a jar of Woolworths delicious Apple sauce too! Perfect for teacher too 😉
And that’s it.
You’re sorted!!
In case you’re wondering, Mikey and I no longer worry to give each other Vday gifts – we’re more just about spending the day together and showing love to others in our lives – also it’s his Mom’s birthday. But we don’t plan too much for the day for ourselves.
However, that may change in the future, as right now we’re both so hungry for each other’s company, so watch this space 😉
Happy Valentines, Darlings! X
Ah Trax that’s such awesome ideas.
It was 1st year Teachers at my Sin’s new school received gifts and they were so chuffed.
Your girls are looking more n more beautiful..
Stay blessed!
Next year! I usually buy the boys chocolates which I did this Valentines as usual compliments of Woolies. I also attempted to make heart shaped crumpets for breakfast but they were literally just mushed up dough, hahaha. The kids were impressed nonetheless and that’s all that matters 🙂
