Yes, doggy walks…This may explain the blue moon we’re going to have on the 31st. Ok, fine, slay me now: Ive been a terrible fur mommy for the past few months. Since the arrival of Parker-Grace, Im a little ashamed to admit that there hasn’t been much in the way of doggy walks.
Sure, we all play with Whiskey every day. Even the nanny used set out time to play with her (amazing right?). And yeah, we still maybe do the odd session of going through all the tricks I taught her from when we first got her in 2013. (She’s forgotten most of them *sigh*.) But there’s nothing that replaces walkies.Nothing.
Pure doggy heaven, I tell ya! All that sniffing and walking, and chasing of the hardeeda’s that crap all over our yard. Yeah, nothing like it, Im sure. And I say “I’m sure”, because you could actually see it written all over her happy little pavement special body as she wags her tail with her whole body!
Watching her enjoy herself, as she made hubby and me sprint around the park was great. But also it made me feel so utterly guilty, (geez, this mommy guilt has no bounds, eh!) that we deprived our tiniest little family member of the simple joys and necessities of doggy life.
But no more! Parker-Grace is growing nicely, and she and her big sis play wonderfully together – so the survival mode of parenting is lifting a bit. Morgan-Lee is warming up to the idea of having a pet (not just that Whiskey is her fur-sister, but a being that needs and depends on her loving and care). So she’s keen to get in on the responsibility action, and thus helping drive it on days that Mike and I feel we’re about to collapse and just can’t do one more thing. So the fog is definitely lifting for us – at least, just enough for us to start reprioritizing facets of our lives.
So yes, Im still exhausted and yes, my to-do list is still only growing, but my little fur baby needs my time and attention (she always has my love). And there’s always going to be mounting challenges, but you’ll never make a difference until you start. Just like with everything else: fitness, health, work, etc…you just need to take the first step.
And that’s exactly what we did with “walkies” this past weekend… We’re all getting back in the saddle of life …next up fitness and health…
So for any of you who are also struggling with that balancing act that has extended towards your doggies, I hope you will find some inspiration to also just take that first step with us!
By the way, on that fitness note, this was me, testing out some of this “fitness” bidniz…A concept that my former gym-rat self was at one with, but is now nothing but a vague concept that’s as tangible as the mist. My strength has all but disappeared (not counting the bicep curls I do with holding my babies), my muscle tone is now best filed under “slup”…and my core has mostly gone with the wind…but just enough there that at least I can still do this:
*ps. No children or animals were harmed in the taking of this picture, however, I did slightly pull my bum muscle. 🙂
Lol love the pole action shot ! Ha Girl, you are strong !!! ? work that!
Haha! Thanks, hun. But my glutes beg to differ 😉
